Elastic Block Store (EBS) provides a feature to encrypt storage volumes automatically when a new virtual server is launched. This ensures that all data at rest within the volume is encrypted, as well as the data moving between the volume and instances. IAM roles pertain to authentication and permissions, not encryption. CloudWatch Logs encryption applies to the logging data, and KMS customer master keys are used in encryption policies but are not directly responsible for automatic disk encryption.
